Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:  

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge received the Green Globe Distinction Award for Outstanding Environmental Performance.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

The lodge was assessed on their environmental performance against each of the 13 agenda areas defined for the tourism industry by the World Travel and Tourism Council, World Tourism Organisation and the Earth Council. These include: waste minimisation, reuse and recycling, energy efficiency, land-use planning and management, involving staff, customers and communities in environmental issues.

The lodge was built to ensure that the site remained ecologically sound and undisturbed by using thatch and commercially grown Eucalyptus poles.
