Brian is Shona from the city of Harare but developed a keen passion for the bush from a young age. Marleen who is from Holland and chose to live in Zimbabwe, met Brian in Victoria Falls. They married in 2008, both having a strong passion for the bush and the cultures of Zimbabwe. Between them they speak 6 languages and are committed to ensuring guests enjoy their stay at Sikumi and value the opportinity to share their local cultural knoweldge with you.

The main area of focus for the lodge is assisting with anti-poaching units operating within the surrounding areas and educating the local commity on the need to preserve their environment.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Working with the National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority and the Animal Lifeline Anti- poaching unit to further the training of guides in anti-poaching techniques, snare removal and tracking.
Motivating staff and their family members on the need to preserve their environment, which provides a source of income in terms of employment generation. Ensuring this value is extended into the comminity; restoring the culture of conversation to ensure the parks and wildlife are there to enjoy for generations to come.
