The lodge's main area of focus is the environment. In fact, Imbabala has received the Green Destination Award for outstanding Environmental Performance.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

The lodge involves its staff, customers and the local communities in environmental issues.

To ensure that the site remains ecologically sound and undisturbed, the lodge was built using thatch and commercially grown eucalyptus poles.
